Hey everyone I'm 4 days post op and having a hard time taking in much! I have about 1/4 cup of broth and I'm stuffed! And then I've been trying to drink but it takes me so long and don't get in much! How much were you taking in at this point?

I consumed about the same amount for the first week. It gets better. I drank chicken broth (UNJURY) for Protein & to settle my stomach. It gets better. Good luck with your sleeve.

My 1st week, I was sipping Crystal Light and eating sugar free popsicles. I'd eat a bite of popsicle and be done eating for 4 or 5 hours. I just tried to sip as much Fluid as I could, but I didn't track the amount. I'd fill up my 30 oz cup and it's last about 2 days.

The first two weeks I just did the best I could. I attempted to drink but didn't get that much down. I ate popsicles, ate chicken broth, and sugar free kool aid, crystal lite, and whatever else I could get to stay down. Never could get more than 3 bites at a time but that is okay. Every day is progress.

Thanks ladies that makes me feel better! Did any of you experience what seems like hunger?

I had to sip every minute of the day from the time I got up till the time I went to bed. If I stopped for even an hour I couldn't get enough in. I made sure everything I drank had Protein in it to kill two birds. Either Protein shakes (diluted with milk) or unjury unflavored added to cream Soups and broth. I never bothered with Popsicles or crystal light, etc because they had no Protein.

As for hunger, it's probably acid. Are you on a PPI or antacid? I was on 40mg Omeprazole but still took Maaloxx or Rolaids when I had "hunger" pains.

Jenny, great question, and I'm grateful for Kindle's response! I was sleeved last Thursday, and I too am having those "hunger pains" now! It's so weird feeling unsure if it is hunger or gas, but my brain tells me it has to be gas right now. So far this has been my only problem. I will go ahead and start taking the Prilosec.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
