Slow weight loss

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved July 1. I'm four weeks out today and am barely losing. I'm so discouraged. I know I'm not getting in enough Protein, but anything I try to ingest makes me nauseous. I'm doing ok on Water intake. I just am not dropping wieght like I see others losing 40-50 lbs in their first month or so. I need help! Can't do Protein Shakes. I've tried all of them and I just can't stomach them. Please!!! Any suggestions?? I'm getting freaked out that the surgery didn't work and all my time, money, pain & suffering was for naught.

Nobody lost 45-50 pds the first month either. Amazing are people losing 15-20 from what I've seen. My limited experience ok? Just an FYI and I want to make that clear.

What was your starting weight?

How much did you lose on the pre-op diet?

How much do you weigh now?

Are you drinking any sugary or carb drinks?

Are you exercising?

Are you keeping a food journal?

I hope this is helpful. I have been preparing for surgery by trying different Proteins (lots of them) and was getting very frustrated because they were gross. Once I realized that the issue was the smell (for me) and not the taste so much, everything changed. If I put the Protein shake in a cup with a lid, I'm good! See if that might be your issue. I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury that I have mixed with bunches of different things, and I add things like a little Peanut Butter or flavored sugar free Syrup and now I'm even able to mix a tablespoon at a time of Protein in things like greek yogurt and applesauce with no problem. I would never have been able to do that without first drinking it without being able to smell it.

Best of luck,

Carol

The only Protein shake I could tollerate was Muscle Milk. I am six months out and still have one for Breakfast with Matrix Protein powder in a blender with ice. Makes it very thick like a shake. Lost 79 lbs so far. First month was only 20 - not sure anyone loses 50 lbs the first month.

VSGAnn is asking the right questions.

I lost 19 pounds in the first month. Nowhere close to 50.

Around weeks 3-4, most people stall out for a week or so. All normal.

@@sfie9669 I'm not a sleeved patient, but I want to encourage you NOT to compare yourself or your journey to anyone. You are uniquely yourself, and though we can all offer advice, inspiration and experience the experiences we share are purely our own.

To find what works for you, is to keep going and not give up. Try it and see and if not keep moving until you find what it is that works for you.

As for Protein, there are some pretty awesome Protein Shots out there by Body Fortress, they literally are 2 oz of liquid and you knock them back just like a shot. They give you 20 grams of Protein and they go so quick you don't have time to taste or smell it :)

Protein is important to your body and your health so try and get that in, and let your body work. It will figure out you need to burn some fat to keep your energy high. If your putting in carbs even if you are drinking them your body is going to choose that first, and you want it to choose to burn fat and not muscle.

Good luck sounds like your right on track!!!

Comparison is the killer of Joy. Someone will always loser more and faster. Always.

The rate at which you lose is largely dependent on where you started. A higher BMI tends to mean a higher rate of loss. That being said, you must make sure you are getting in enough calories for your body to function. Are you getting at least 600 calories a day? Protein is vital for your body right now. Try anything you can think of that might be appealing, even if it is adding extra Protein Powder to yogurt or unflavored protein powder to other foods. If you can

not get in enough calories, you can't lose. Your body needs fuel or it will hold on to every pound you are trying to get rid of. Good luck--you are so early out, it is easy to be nervous. But you can do this! :)

@@sfie9669 don't go by what the stats next to each of our names states, as it includes pre-op weight loss AND post op weight loss, so for me I lost 33 pounds prior to sleeve and 32 since sleeve on June 12th but my stats state 65 pounds lost. Hang tough, get your fluids and Protein Shakes in. Also someone starting with a higher bmi than yours and men will lose it faster in the beginning. We are each on our own journey and we can't compare ourselves via amount of lost wright at the same post op days, weeks etc. Stay the course and keep checking into this site as the support here us amazing and so needed :)

Okay, I'm no scientist, but I watched that video and it seems to me that it is physically impossible to get 30 grams of Protein out of something that only weighs 15 grams. Grams are a unit of weight. Maybe they are saying you get the BENEFIT of 30 grams of Protein from 15 grams of their powder, but it is not possible that you are actually ingesting 30 grams of protein when only consuming 15 grams of something.

It is my understanding that the video states that their 15 grams equals same amount as 30 grams of protein.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
