We just got bikes last weekend and even though I workout a lot- Wow! It was a quad buster. We'll go riding again this weekend . I hope to learn to love it because right now it feels like work.

I'm so sad my arthritis won't let me ride without pain. My right knee can't handle the up bend. :(. I last tried about thirty pounds ago.

I'm working out with a personal trainer specifically to strengthen the muscles around my knees. It is supposed to help redice the pain. It's been 2 weeks and I think it is better. He has me doing a lot of modified squat activities, balance work, and excercises to strengthen the glutes. He says I should ne using the glutes to stand up from a squat. Good luck!

It took me a few weeks to get there. Now, I love it and have a lot better endurance. Give it some time.

Just like any other exercise it does get easier. Just keep it up. Also make sure you understand the gears and how to shift. The goal is to be able to rotate the crank without having to push hard and to keep the feet moving at a pretty steady brisk pace. If you're having to push hard in each stroke and your not going uphill you're probably in too high of a gear. That will cause more strain on the knees too.

Most of all have fun!

I bought a bike a couple of weeks ago and although I am enjoying it-it is hard work but I push myself

The big hill that I live on the top of is lovely on the way down but it is very hard on the way up and my legs shake once I get to the top!

@@madwife2002 In the bike group I used to ride with, the mantra was "You've gotta love the hills to be a good rider"... I guess it's similar to life lessons -- you don't learn from the easy times -- it's when you face challenges.

I'd suggest googling utube videos for proper technique for climbing hills... it's not as intuitive as you might think. It's especially important to know how to use your gears and how to position your body. I know it sounds like ultra-elite bike riding technique but hey, we can learn from them, too! :)

Hubby bought me a new bike just before my surgery (so I would have it ready and waiting when I was recovered enough to ride). We've ridden the past few years, and I was up to regular 10-20 miles/week over the past few summers (although the more I rode, the more I ate. Thankfully, I can't do that now!)

I absolutely LOVE my bike. I probably wouldn't get near as much exercise if I didn't have it. It feels so good to get out there and just go :D

Couldn't go bike riding today so went on treadmill and for the first time in my life I ran on the treadmill, instead of walking!!! How wonderful is that

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
