Relationships after Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi all! This is my first post so let me start by saying that this board has gotten me through post op and pre-op. What a gift to have thousands of people inspire me on this journey!

So back to my questions. I was sleeved on Wednesday 7/23 and I already see myself wanting to put space between me and my casual dating people. It's not that I don't like them, but I feel like I need to grow solo and experience my new desires and enjoyments by myself.

Is this normal? It seems so selfish to me but my goals and my new dreams are so different now that I know my body will soon be able to keep up!

Any stories or suggestions on how to deal with this would be great :)

Isn't that one of the benefits of dating casually? Can't you take some space without it being a big deal?

personally, i have no interest in delving into a serious relationship with anyone until i'm in the right headspace and i'm assuming that will take some time. (i had surgery on 6/25/14). as for casual dating, i don't intend to give that up because i still want to enjoy myself and have a good time without the intense emotional attachment (unless i meet the man of my dreams, of course lol), but i suppose everyone is different. you have to do what's right for you. if you feel you want to work on yourself without the interaction of any physical or romantic partners, then i say, do what you have to do. the key is to be honest with yourself and with anyone else involved. if you know what you want, then you're half way there. good luck! :)

There's nothing wrong with setting limits on a date. The world in general thinks they will end up in bed it doesn't have to b that way..stand out...let them no yay or nay..if the other respects an is willing to just enjoy good conversation an or movie an dinner out with no pressure that's great...best wishes: )
