emilymor 0 Posted May 28, 2007 I get free fill for first three months I think. I have a 10cc band and have 3cc's in so far. Tonight I had a hamburger, weiner and piece of pork. We had a cook out. Thanks for your reply
Syrah 0 Posted May 28, 2007 Emily, you must have the Vanguard band if you have a 10 CC capacity. When you read around this website, be aware that there are bands (like yours - and mine) with different fill capacities and you shouldn't compare yourself to the people with differently-sized bands. You will end up being confused. My impression is that the Vanguard band is being used a lot in more recent surgeries, and by the more progressive surgeons. This is different than the bands most people here are talking about. Be aware of that and don't compare yourself to those with 1.5 or 2 CC fills! Having said that, there is no way that I could eat a hot dog, burger and some pork. To be honest, I think I might have shrunk my stomach somewhat just by being freaked out. I would never even attempt to eat a hamburger because I've heard so much about how beef is not well tolerated. I am not interested in puking or burping all night long so I avoid things that I have heard are NOT good candidates, LOL! Free fills for 3 most isn't a great thing, IMO. My first fill was 6 weeks surgery and my 2nd fill is 4 mos out (mid July). There are not many fills you can get (and justify) within 3 mos. of banding. My research shows that slow fills are optimal in order to avoid complications, long term. Good luck to you!!
lizrbit 0 Posted May 28, 2007 yeah but so much of that will depend on your dr too. I have NO idea what size my new band is. I go in early tomorrow morning and i can find out then, as well as if i can get a small fill before going home to maine. I have a show in galveston July 14 in the strand, so realisticly i cant really come back until then. My surgeon likes to see his patients every four weeks and has graciously allowed me every five to six weeks for the airline discount. im very excited because i get to have real live Soup today. real live stick in there soup! woo! thick, creamy soup! emilymor 0 Posted May 28, 2007 Thanks for the reply, I have a 10cc band. Yes I eat slowly and chew my food well. If I didn't you work think I would get sick or something get stuck so that is why I don't think i am tight enough. thanks
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted May 28, 2007 Get another fill, while you still can get them for free. If you have the VG band, I have read on here that a lot of people need quite a bit of saline to feel restricion.
Syrah 0 Posted May 28, 2007 For those who have the 10 CC band, this thread may be helpful: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/vg-10-cc-bandsters-only-23184/

Thanks for your reply In my non-professional opinion, you need a fill! I read somewhere (here?) that if you can eat more than a cup of solid food at one sitting, you need a fill. A hamburger, hotdog and piece of pork has GOT to be more than a cup 3cc in an 10cc band doesn't really seem like a lot. I know a lot of people with a 4cc band don't feel a real fill until they hit at least 2cc. Get thee to the fill doctor!!!
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted May 30, 2007 Hello Denise822. I too was banded by Dr. Tersigni in Coos Bay on November 14, 2006. My first appointment with him was June 7th but didn't jump through all the hoops until November. By that time I had lost 50 lbs. Surgery weight was 315. I've lost 40 lbs since being banded and still have yet to meet the sweet spot. There is slight restriction at 6 cc in a 10 cc band. This is really a mind game. The band isn't going to do it for you. You work with it. I see Dr. Tersigni again next week and hopefully this fill will make mine more effective. Hang in there. Time is on your side. Susie313, I can't believe I never saw this post! Where do you live? Did you get your fill and how are you doing now?
lizrbit 0 Posted May 30, 2007 it turns out i have the new AP Band, small size. It has fill in it, dunno how much but the restriction is perfect. it wears comfortable too. Listen to this...my surgeon did a thing where he didnt have to resuture, but instead fitted the new band exactly into the old bands place. i feel groovy, today first day of soft foods. Im good for about three to five oz.
sherilynn 1 Posted June 5, 2007 I'm in the same boat. Visiting with my surgeon for my 4 month check up on surgical site; lab work, etc. First fill was 5/8. No restriction 1 month later. Feel like I can eat a horse - weight loss has Stopped. I hope to schedule another fill for next week. I NEED to get that sweet spot!!!
