patiently/Impatiently Waiting

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just as my topic says i am patiently/impatienly waiting I started my journey with my first Dr. appt on 4/4/14 and my insurance required 3 months diet with Nutritionist which i finally completed on 7/16/14

Now Im just waiting for them to schedule my surgery. Call me crazy but Im ready to get this over with and get down to the nitty gritty. anyone else out there waiting for scheduling or have any idea how long it generally take to get scheduled one released by nutritionist.

Everything seems to be moving in slow motion, doesn't it? Hang in there!

I feel the same way!!! I had my medical clearance through Kaiser on the 16th of July and haven't gotten the call to meet with my surgeon. I'm so anxious.. especially because most of the people I went to the class with have had or are already scheduled for their surgery. . Sucks!!!:/

I keep swinging back and forth between "let's get this party started!" and "I am glad this process takes a while so it can sink in more before I actually go through this." All this swinging is making me dizzy!

I am almost done with my requirements then I get to wait for approval & to be scheduled too. I am sure I will be a lot more impatient then!

I am playing the waiting game right now but I have not even been able to have an initial consultation with the surgeon yet. I faxed paper work to the office last week so that I can get the process rolling. I called them today and they told me that they received my fax and they will be calling me the middle of next week to schedule my appointment. Why they could not schedule it while I was already on the phone, I have no idea. I want this process moving.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
