Holy moly!! I am still so sore, I'm almost a week post-op, and I really thought I'd be feeling much better. Wow.

Anyone else sore for a long time? I still can't even sleep in any position other than sitting up in bed, back against the pillows, no turning on my side.

And I'm tired ALL THE TIME.

Sorry for venting - I know some have had it much worse. But I'm just so fatigued from it all.

I am almost four weeks post op. I went through the same thing as you. It was very hard to sleep comfortably the first 10 days or so. I mostly dozed off and on for a couple hours at a time. I found that borrowing a friends recliner helped me get comfy.

My energy started to pick up around two to three weeks after surgery but my stamina is still pretty low. My first outing was 10 days after surgery. I went to Homegoods with my mom. It was perfect because they have so many chairs to sit and rest in!

Carmen, remember that you have had major surgery and are only one week out. Please be patient, as everyone heals differently. If you are taking pain meds, please take them as scheduled to control the pain. I went back to work after 2 weeks, but really didn't feel 100% until about 2 months out. Be patient, follow your surgeon's plan and stay on top of your pain. It does get better.

The pain meds might be contributing to your tiredness, they always make me sleepy.

I am 2 weeks and a day out today and this is the first day that my pain hasn't bothered me. In the beginning whenever I got from a seated position or from bed it felt like my body was ripping apart. That ripping apart feeling graduated to a burning feeling instead of ripping.

Yesterday was still burning and so is today, but not as extreme.

When you are experiencing that pain it is as though time is standing still and it is never going to stop, believe me, I know.

It does lessen, and that is a good thing.

I was finally able to lay on my side with a body pillow next to my stomach. I am only very recently able to lay on my left side, which is my problem (pain) side.

It does get better as the days go by. Some days went backwards, but then were better the next day...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
