Wisdom2KnowTheDifference 32 Posted July 28, 2014 Hey ya'll... My band-to-sleeve revision is Sept 3... wondering if anyone started their pre-op diet early? I feel like I need to do something, I keep on gaining... Anyone had any success with dieting pre-op? I mean if I was any good at dieting I might not be having surgery So I don't know. Thoughts/wisdom appreciated! Thanks, Meredith
Kissifur 244 Posted July 28, 2014 I was not required to do a pre-op diet other than Clear Liquids the day before and nothing after midnight. I think if you can handle it I say go for it. You can also take this time to start practicing some of the many rules you will have to live with after surgery such as no calories drinks only, chewing your food 20+ times (hardest part for me), no sweets and limit carbs. You have to remember that after surgery you will have to move through stages to get to food (4 weeks for me) which seemed like an eternity. Good luck with what ever you decide to do. mckelmer 9 Posted July 28, 2014 Hello Meredith, I did start mine early.. I started a month before my surgery with the Optifast so I could allow myself to have 100gms of meat for dinner.. I knew i would struggle through it if i couldn't have some sort of feeling of chewing real food. It worked well for me, as i lost 8kgs in that month. I really do think the first week was the hardest, after that it got easier so by the last week I was so proud of myself. Good luck with everything, I have no regrets and am sure you too will be very happy
A. Stoot 85 Posted July 28, 2014 I don't have a surgery date yet but I feel the same way, I am ready I started making detox shakes to start getting my mind and body ready for my new journey. I am waiting on a letter of consent from my cardiologist that I hope to get done tomorrow because he was on vacation last week. Good luck and it's not to early to prepare ????
