The waiting is torture...psych done. Pcp letter done...saw cardiologist and gastro have to do their tests (endoscopy the 5th, echo tbd and stress test the 11th.) nutritionist done...preop class the 18th and sleep study the 9th. If all goes smooth hopefully mid to late October ....

I'm not a newbie to Bariatric Pal, but I haven't had surgery yet. Just had my stress test today :) Still have: sleep study, NUT, psych, cardiologist and lose 14 more pounds (have lost 11 out of the 25 my doctor is requiring). Thinking mid to late November, maybe early December. (Could be sooner though :).

@@Angelkeeper4 I have Horizon NJ Health too. It's amazing because the insurance company requires nearly nothing for the surgery, but it's the doctors that want the clearances on everything. It's driving me nuts!! I feel like this is going to take forever. And on top of it, my boss is asking for a date for surgery or she might not be able to accommodate my entire time off and recovery (it's a new job, too!). The doctor only gave me an estimate of December (1st week or 2nd week). I don't even know if that's realistic based on how fast everything is moving along.

Woohoo! I just got confirmation today that my psych eval was sent to my surgical group so they can now submit to insurance. Fingers crossed! I hope they don't take forever to respond.

Wow. I called my surgical group yesterday to verify that they had received everything. I got a call back that said "we will be submitting this week."

I was a little bummed that they hadn't done it yet.

Then about an hour ago I got a call from them telling me that I am approved! I have a surgery date of 10/21. Holy crap!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
