I had my VSG on July 7 - weighing in at 244. Tomorrow is the three week mark and I weight 221!. No complications so far. I also had my gall bladder removed with this surgery. Though pleased with the weight loss, the recovery has been a little slower than I expected. I am 61 and have had 4 C-sections; bounced back so quickly from those that I thought this would be the same experience. (Of course, that was 30 years ago). I still want to nap everyday!. I have to go back to school on August 7 and need my energy.

As far as how things are going today, I feel hungry much of the time. Some of this I think is "head-hunger". I see a commercial and want to eat like I used to. I crave a hamburger and fries. I am on soft foods and when I take a bite or two, the hunger is abated. Shortly after however, I am hungry again. I have eaten one bite too many on a couple of occasions and have had that gripping pain in my chest. Still learning to read my body signals better. I long to take a giant gulp of Water or tea to quench my thirst. I look forward to the day I can do this. I am anxious to learn more about the successes you have had.

I'm not sure I have experienced head hunger. I also feel hungry about two hours after a meal, but I think that's because I get full so fast whenever I eat. The rest of my body doesn't agree with my stomach. I don't snack, so I'm actually hungry more often now than I was when I was dieting pre-surgery. The difference is that it's much easier to stay on program now. Even though I'm hungry, I know I can't really eat much, so I have little enthusiasm for food.< /p>

I was sleeved May 7th. I get hungry. Most of the time its mild but sometimes its bad. I have to admit to snacking on greek yogurt or cheese. I found that some of the hunger was acid reflux.

I appreciate your input regarding acid reflux. I haven't been taking my PPI as regularly as I should. I am taking it today and hope to be less hungry soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
