Help. Afraid I've messed up

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I am two months out from my sleeve. Had it on May 16th. Things were going great. Down 28lbs. Then I had a major accident and had to have emergency surgery. Had pins and plates put in my right arm (I'm right handed). then 3 weeks at home unable to do anything. I was bored and didn't eat exactly right but kept on track...I thought....Now back at work and am absolutely starving! I still can be as active as I would like. Doctor has said to wait for most activity (I had started running and I horseback ride). Think I'm eating too much. I have hit a stall and didnt' lose anything this week. I had my surgery with A lighter me in Tijuanna and didn't really get too much support info for this point. Can anyone tell me how much I should be eating and how much wieght loss weekly I can expect at this point. Thanks...I don't want to screw this up. I'm so afraid of ruining it and not losing weight.

Sorry you had to have surgery. My doctor told me to eat at least 1000 calories per day (65g protein). I use MyFitnessPal to track my meals. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your accident and surgery. I haven't had the surgery yet, but have been doing all the pre-surgery stuff so I'm no help in regard to how much you can expect to lose at this point. SparkPeople is also a great site for tracking nutrition and exercise. I especially like it for figuring nutritional information for any recipes I make. Good luck!

It's a balancing act and stalls happen. I had my surgery May 21st and just busted through a 3 week long stall. I was going crazy and having various conversations in my head. Did I eat too much? Am I eating too many carbs? Should I walk longer? Faster?

Turned out that all I needed to do was increase my Protein and calories by a little. As long as you're not grazing and not eating fries and sugar all day, you're not doing anything wrong. You just may need to adjust a little.

The accident sucks, however don't allow obstacles to detract you from your objective!

Unfortunately, this is simply a hurdle to overcome and there will be plenty of others throughout the rest of your life! You can and will overcome each and every one of them, however you have got to want it!

When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.

Good luck and Godspeed for a quick recovery...you got this! ;)

We all get scared of messing up. I have been in a stall for the past 3 weeks and now barely loosing some weight. I sometimes like to munch on things. I don't think you messed up. We just start loosing fast and then gradually. Just have patience. You will do great. The stalls suck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
