I'm almost 6 weeks PO and I am on regular foods. Are any of you just eating what u want just less of it or have you switched to healthy eating? If you're eating what you want, are you achieving good weight loss?

I'm asking because I typically eat what I want, just less of course, while making healthier choices here and there. As of last week, I've only lost 20lbs (which I lost in the 1st 2 weeks). I know there's a weight stall but, I wanted to know if it was due to my food choices or if it's just how it is.

I'm on regular foods now as well. My surgery was June 3rd. I've mostly been sticking to high Protein stuff like chicken. I've made filet minion (sp?) kabobs too. But I find that I have to eat soooo slow it's sort of annoying. And getting all my Protein in is not easy. Yes, I have tried some regular stuff like Cheetos Puffs (1/2 of a serving). And still lost 2lbs that week. Just have to be sure to log it and be careful. I've even started drinking some wine. 6oz of white is about 7carbs. But again, I log it. I use My Fitness Pal religiously. It's the only way I can keep track of things as well as STAY on track. I tried to eat a very small salad from Noodles yesterday and really only got the chicken down. High Fiber foods still don't sit well. I think it's trial and error at this point. HUGE learning curve. Hope that helps a little. Also hope more people post stuff. Stealing ideas is the best thing from this site! Best of luck!

I'm on regular foods, surgery was June 12th. I'm still eating mostly Protein, because once I get my protein in I don't have room for much else. For example, I made a low-carb meatloaf the other night and was able to eat 2.5 oz of meatloaf and less than a tablespoon of greenbeans. My husband had a couple of friends over to work on his boat last night (men's garage party) and I ordered pizzas. I pulled the toppings off 2 slices, but couldn't finish. My weight loss has slowed to 2-3lbs a week. It seems like those who were under orders to stay on liquids longer lose weight more quickly. I kind of wish I had been in that group, but once on solid food, I don't want to go back to full liquids! My favorite snack is a babybel cheese. I still have trouble getting my Water in, but I have always struggled with Fluid intake. I think I'm just not as thirsty as normal people!

My surgery was April 23 and although I am on regular foods I still don't lose if I don't get my Protein Shakes in. Two a day equal 60gr and as for food I eat Protein first then maybe I eat 2pieces of broccolli or 6green Beans and I'm done. There's no way I could get my protein requirements in on food alone. I do taste things often to see how it feels and bread and Pasta are not my friends! Im down almost 50lbs but was stuck at 200 for what seemed like forever!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
