You have had quite the experience! I was readmitted 2 days after I got out for what they called pneumonia but when I followed up with the pulmonologist he said it was more a pocket of Fluid under my left lung. I had a pretty bad hernia that was repaired during surgery, too, so like you, it may have been because of that.

That's completely weird about being inpatient/outpatient. If you were staying in the hospital, eating their food, sleeping in their beds and seeing doctors and having tests there, what's the difference? I would hope this is something you can appeal through your insurance and the hospital. Completely crazy! I saw a doctor in an ER once... the hospital was in network but the doctor didn't accept any insurance and wanted full payment. I contacted my insurance and they told me that in network hospitals can't do that (contract with a doctor who doesn't accept insurance) and they contacted the hospital and got it all cleared up for me. Be sure to appeal and argue because you shouldn't have to pay on a technicality.

And glad to hear you're doing better. It will get better and easier with time.

So if you don't mind my asking, did your pocket of Fluid go away? Sounds like we had the same exact issue.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
