Protein Drinks...good and bad

Recommended Posts

Go to Unjury.com Trust me on this. You can order their samples for $1.75 each, to make sure you like before you spend any real money. Don't do what I did and buy $180 worth of those 42 gram "bullett" Protein Shots only to discover they make you gag every time you look at them!

It only took a maximum of 3 days to get the Unjury every time I ordered it. You have to order it online. Also, it only has 80 calories per serving - 1 lonely carb and NO fat. It's 20 easy grams of Protein in every serving! (No. I don't work for Unjury!) :)

i really like Optifast chocolate---i get it at the dr's office. i mix it with a bunch of ice cubes in the blender--and it's frothy and tastes good! in a pinch, you can take it with you--but it's gotta be cold. "blenderizing" it with ice truly improves the taste and the sensation of getting a real milkshake.

Well since I was in a pinch for lunch I researched a little before lunch. I ended up at smoothie King and got a low carb banana smoothie. I hope I didn't mess up to much here. It has 225 calories, 6 fat, 6 carbs and 35 grams of Protein in the 20oz... not bad, so far very good and filling!

I know it doesn't have all the Vitamins in it but I'll drink my regular shakes tonight.

I'm going to check out unjury.com now - sounds like good products!

Hey, Crystal......You COULD have opted for the cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake, so don't beat yourself up over the smoothie. It was probably one of the best choices you had at the time. We all fail to plan ahead sometimes - as long as we don't make a habit of it, right? It actually sounds like it was pretty healthy, all in all.

Right now as I type this I am drinking a Mango Peach Isopure Protein Water with ice and water... I bought the variety pack off the net and so far my favorite is GRAPE FROST and the one I couldn't even finish was aPPLE MELON...... all others are pretty good, but yes they are sweet and good for your CLEAR stage

20 oz bottle, 40 Protein, and 160 calories.

EAS CarbVantage is my favorite brand of thick Protein shakes (pre-made)

chocolate Fudge followed by strawberry........ don't like their french vanilla.

Lastly........ LOW CARB slim fast in vanilla is pretty good in the blender with a bit of ice and a T of banna sf pudding mixed in.

I've tried Adkins, EAS and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. Unjury is the best by far. Try it with Hood milk (a diluted version that has fewer calories/carbs and more Protein than regular skim). Hood comes in chocolate which only adds 45 calories and 1 extra gram of carbs. With the chocolate Unjury it is AWESOME!

I also bought banana and cocunut flavoring. Just a little drop and it is yummy.

I have already stocked up on a little bit of Atkins, Eas and I just ordered a sample pack of Unjury - I plan on putting that into a blender. I also bought some extract flavors to spice them up a bit (like raspberry , orange). someone had posted Syntrax Nectar - on enjoyhealth.com. You can order a sample pack of that as well. Good luck

My favorite site is BariatricEating.com - BE, Inc. The number one bariatric website for Protein, Vitamins, and success.!

The woman who runs the site is amazing and had the RNY surgery like 7 years ago. She only stocks the best tasting ready to drink (RTD) Protein Drinks along with other best tasting Protein Powder.

You can get sampler packs too.

I just placed a second big order this weekend and can't wait for my delivery.

They were so so so horrible I literally had to throw them away.....what a gigantic waste of time and money (I ordered them through the manufacturing website)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
