What was your favorite thing to eat in the "pureed" stage?

Recommended Posts

Mmmkay,I gotta ask. I've read this entire thread and no one mentioned baby food?

I go in for my surgery on the 18th...I thought this idea was pure genius.

Baby food...in jars. Anyone ever done this?

I bought a little bit of baby food pre op Thinkjng I would try it but could never bring myself to eat it! Would love to hear if someone actually tried it!

Discussed many times here. A teaspoon of refried Beans would taste way better than a teaspoon of baby food. People have to be satisfied with taste and baby food won't do it. Proteins not there either.

Ahhhh...'k, makes sense. I didn't think about the Protein requirements. I'm just lazy and don't want to cook/blend things.

There are plenty of baby foods out there with Protein in them these days...especially if you look for the ones aimed at older babies. But yeah I was afraid of how they would taste. I eat very little processed food and it's about as processed as you can get!

I barely cook anymore. You can buy a rotisserie chicken and make chicken salad (add nutmeg, FF mayo, celery, chopped egg and green grapes, or wrap chicken in lettuce. My husband loves smoked salmon and has it as his dinner. You can make a little egg salad. Make turkey chili with Beans and freeze in small batches. Take low sodium lowfat chick broth, add veggies (baby carrots, lentils, green beans), italian seasonings and shredded chicken, (or refried Beans for thickening and protein) and make Soup. Enjoy hot weather with lowfat/low sodium deli meats wrapped around FF cheddar cheese. I am thankful coleslaw agrees with me. My favorite meal in Florida is a piece of Mahi, Snapper or Grouper, topped with Old Bay seasoning, and broiled. It just takes a few minutes. No meal planning at my house. For those of you who have families at home, crockpot meals rock!

Anyone else having a problem with eggs?? Had surgery July 15th. 1st time I tried a scrambled egg, didn't keep it down. Second time, it was painful. Keeping it simple, but everything else seems okay.

I have tried eggs over and over they revisit every time! I can't stand the smell anymore *gag*

Nothing really tasted good to me. My best suggestion is whatever you choose add unflavored Protein (I use Unjury but haven't tried other brands) to everything even if it's just a little. That way you get your protein in. :)

I did. It is bland and terrible. The fruits and veggies aren't bad, but the chicken/turkey/ham... gag inducing. And that is even AFTER seasoning the hell out of it with things like sage and thyme and rosemary.

How long is your pureed stage!? I'm seeing lots of variations after surgery.

I had 1 week of liquid, then 3 weeks of purred - which is getting old as I'm starting my 3rd week.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
