A little under 5 months out and 100 lbs lost!

Recommended Posts

Today is a big day for me. I've lost 100 lbs. Such a crazy number to me. I really weighed 100 lbs more than this?! No wonder why I was so miserable! I'd love to lose another 50 lbs, but if I only lose another 40 that would be just fine with me. I will be five months out on the 5th.

I know everyone writes this, but the sleeve surgery has been the best decision I ever made for myself. It's nice finally caring about myself again. Not to mention clothes shopping has become fun instead of torture! I love that I can still eat pretty much whatever, but I'm done after 5 bites. Making healthier decisions has become second nature to me. I am in this for the long haul! There is no way I am going back to over 300 lbs.

Here are some pics:

Making good choices when it comes to food, I stop eating when I feel the first signal of feeling full, no snacking, lots of Water, moderate walking, etc. Need to get myself in an exercise routine though.

Some days it's only for 20 mins. Some days it's a busy day (shopping, Disneyland, etc) and I am walking all day. I work a desk job so getting up and active has been hard for me. I'm sure my skin would be looking a lot better had I been exercising everyday!

Ty! A typical day usually consists of Protein for breakfast: either a scrambled egg or a turkey sausage patty. lunch is usually pretty random day to day. Usually some type of chicken. I love wraps since bread and I don't get along well anymore. Maybe chicken or tuna salad. dinner could be a turkey patty, chicken w/ brown rice, an oz of whole wheat spaghetti with a turkey meatball, turkey/chicken taco, etc. I basically eat normal meals but healthier versions and much less. I try and work veggies into meals as well.

Overall I keep carbs down to a minimum, but nothing like Atkins or anything.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
