I'm in the full liquid stage and start purees in a couple of days.

I'm worried about the weight loss slowing down. Dumb right? I need the Protein and eventually get used to food or figure out how to "deal" with food right...so I shouldn't stress tight? But I am a little bit...

I think I wouldn't worry about it so much. I know we watch the scale like a hawk, or I know I do, but just after the surgery you need to focus more on being healthy.

My plan for the mushy food still has me drinking Protein Drinks a couple times a day and the food you can eat is plenty, but really doesn't seem like weight gaining foods to me.

I too was worried the "magic" would wear off once I switched from liquids to puree. And then again when I switched to full foods. And then again at 6 months when I noticed I could suddenly eat more per meal. It was all worry for nothing. As long as I follow my dietary guidelines and keep within a certain range of calories, the weight keeps coming off. It will for you too. It's not the liquids or the solids, it's all about the calories and eating healthy food. Stay away from empty carbs like candy and cake. B)

My weight loss actually sped up once I got on solid foods. Just eat healthy and you'll be fine!!

My doc started us on puree on day 2 in order to leave the hospital. I lost a lot of weight and so did my surgery buddy (a heavier man - they lose faster). At first, I thought my surgeon was strange from board reading but now I think I get it. We had energy and we were full very fast. It's easy to drink many calories. I wouldn't worry about it too much and know that there are many ways that this surgery works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
