I had my surg on the 22nd as well. How much walking do you do? What are some of the things you are currently experiencing?

I sit at a desk and answer phones. I can make it to where I don't walk at all. Right now, I stopped taking pain meds and I feel pretty good. Not hungry, my chest hurts a bit. Can't decide if that's the new hunger pain or the gas pains. I have had no nausea or vomiting. My doctor does a 2 week post op and it isn't until aug 4.

My surgery was on July 14th. I went back to work after a week. I didn't really have an issue with the exception of a little fatigue (and slight pain from my bra sitting on one of my incisions). Make sure you get your walking in, though, you don't want to have blood clots leading to a PE or DVT.

Sleeved on 7/18/14. My energy is a zero right now. I guess everyone recovers to a different rate. If I had to go back to work now I would not be able to make it through the showering and getting dressed.

I could have easly gone back that quick. I really had little to no pain. Make sure you feel OK to drive. The drug given during surgery took a while to ware off for me.

I had my surgery on 9/9/13 (a Monday) and was back to work on 9/16/13 the following Monday. I also worked at home for about 10 hours the Sunday after surgery, and about 3-5 hours Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Lol, I even wrote a report in the hospital on Wednesday and although it turned out ok, I would not reccommend that! I was kind of high on pain killers at the time. I didn't take any pain meds after I was at home on Wednesday night and mentally I was completely fine to work Thursday morning from home. I had no issues physically returning to my desk job the week after surgery, so you should be fine. Good luck in your recovery!

Thank you everyone for the advise. My boss is now saying I need a note from my doctor to be cleared to come back to work. Depending on what my doctor says, I may be off another week.

I took 4 weeks off -- one week is not enough, you need to heal healthily and completely -- it IS major surgery after all. Good Luck.

I admire all of you! I stayed off four weeks and then went back to work 1/2 days for a week. I was so tired and had to build up my strength. After they started letting me have my Iron......felt lots better and got around better!

I also have a desk job. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back at work the following Monday. No problem. At my job I am able to eat and drink at my desk and take a few minutes away if needed. So it worked for me. I couldn't afford to take any more time off than that.

Every one recovers at a different pace...My recovery was uneventful and easy. I telecommute full time.

I was operated on Thursday and worked 1/2 days the following week, working a full day that Tuesday. I was tired. If I had to get up, get dressed and go to an office for a full day, I probably would have been OK 2 weeks after surgery. I got tired easily and needed to take a nap.

Remember to be kind to yourself and take care immediately after surgery - this is major surgery!

If they keep paying to stay home then stay home another week. Enjoy this little honeymoon if possible.

If not then make it clear to them you may get tired easily and may need to do a couple shorter days in beginning but won't know til you get there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
