Cher vine 23 Posted July 25, 2014 Just got home a little while ago from the hospital. Had my sleeve yesterday. Filled my prescriptions. They are pills. I thought I could crush them but it takes too much liquid to even begin to cut the taste. The meds are for pain and nausea. Any suggestions?
fccm04 39 Posted July 25, 2014 Hummmmm strange, all my meds were liquid. I would see if your doctor could call in liquid prescriptions. 1 BeagleLover reacted to this
momohime 121 Posted July 25, 2014 I was given Prevacid and Zofran after surgery. The Prevacid came in capsules that I had to take apart and the Zofran was a disintegrating tablet. They both tasted horrid and I was never so happy as when I could actually take pills whole again. I think one of the worst parts was that the bitter taste just lingered in my mouth for a while, nothing could get rid of it.. soo gross! My pain med was a liquid though, which was your standard icky cherry medicine flavor. I don't think any of it is going to taste good exactly, but you can definitely call your prescribing MD to see if you can get a different formulation. Either that or just tough it out for a couple weeks till you can swallow pills whole. (I recommend the former.)

pandababy21 5 Posted July 25, 2014 I tried putting them in Jello or apple sauce and in one spoonful I would take them down! Good luck
Chele H 427 Posted July 25, 2014 Call your surgeon and get new meds. I had liquid tylenol with codeine and a ppi that disolved under my tongue. When my husband had kidney stones and the pain made his nauseous his doctor gave him an anti nausea medication that disolved under his tongue. No need to suffer through the nasty taste of crushed pills that were meant to be swallowed.
