Bumps and more bumps....HELP!

Recommended Posts

It started off as a simple itch around my incisions and everyone including my dr said this meant the incisions were healing. So I dealt with it. Now a week later, I gave bumps all around the incisions and around my stomach. I called my dr today and she said to take the clear bandages off the incisions and allow them to breath. I'm doing that but it just didn't sound right.

I thought they might have me come in and gave a look but they didn't. I'm going to try what my dr said but it doesn't sound right. Has anyone gone through this before and what did you do to fix it? Help please!!

....I am 2weeks out of surgery.

My bandages came off at week 1, and yes, the my incisions did itch. After showering I would put on a dab of Neo-sporin with the pain relief formula. It seemed to help the itching. I am not a Dr, but I would suspect that your itchiness and red bumps are a reaction to the glue of the bandage, and since you are 2 weeks out, I would certainly think that you should have the bandages off.

Wen had no bandages, very little redness, just a little itching. When in doubt insist on seeing the doctor. You paid him very well!

@LindafromFlorida. Thank you very much! Yes I am going to follow orders but not sure how long I can go on like this without going to see my PCP. However, I want to stick with my de who did surgery to look after this BC it is directly related to this surgery.

Take some benedryl. It sounds like an adhesive allergy. I have that as well and have to use benedryl.

I hope everyone has a good PCP after surgery, because I have found we needed him desperately when the sleeve surgeon's office said "we don't handle that" even though it was directly related to the sleeve surgery, IMHO.

I put some hydrocortisone cream around the incisions. The itching was gone in about 2 days.

I also used hydrocortisone cream to abate the itching. Mind you a friend from my group had some nerves that reacted when they were cut.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
