Well!

I'm 3 weeks post op

I'v tried some eggs and within 2 or 3 small bites I get all yucky and puke!

So I went back on liquids. Today I had a few tiny bites of chicken and got that pukie feeling again. This time I took slow deep breaths and the feeling left. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Am I always going to feel like this?

I had my surgery 6/10 and still cannot eat. I know within minutes if it is going to come back up. The most I can eat is 1-2 TBL. I usually cannot eat at night at all??? I can eat about a half of egg and it is ??? whether it will stay down. I get a terrible feeling and then thick mucus comes up (TMI). I do a little better if I don't drink thirty minutes before I eat and wait 45 minutes after I eat. I have to take little bity bites and chew chew chew! Wait between bites. Tried watermelon last night and I knew immediately that I had messed up with the first bite. I was able to get a few bites of potato Soup from Scholtzsky's down today at lunch and so far so good!

I have had my surgery on April 24, 2014. Don't panic, focus on what goes down well. That is what the bariatric nurse told me. Try something new every now and then. One day it will sit well in your pouch, the next day it might not. For the first six weeks I have experienced nausea and puking at least once a day. Once my pouch was upset, it didn't want anything the rest of the day. I thought it would last forever....

I am 14 weeks out now and I can eat so much more than those first weeks! Stuff like potatoes or meat still won't sit every day, but I found out that my new me loves fish and seafood a lot. Which has Protein as well. It will get better, trust me!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
