I AM 7 WEEKS OUT AND I EXERCISE EVREYDAY ---I DO ZUMBA 3 TIMES A WEEK , I HAVE A FITNESS TRAINER, AND I DO CARDIO/WEIGHTS THE OTHER DAYS. I FIND MYSELF HUNGRY SOMETIMES, BUT I THOUGHT THAT I WASNT SUPPOSED TO GET HUNGRY -- DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE?

You are doing great! :) You can still feel hunger. For most, you don't feel any hunger for the first couple of months after surgery as everything is healing. I started feeling hunger about 3 months after surgery. Usually, I only feel hungry if I go more than 3 hours between meals/snacks. If you are getting enough Protein, you shouldn't feel hungry too often, as long as you eat something (something high protein) every few hours.

There is no need to be concerned about feeling hungry.After doing so much of exercise everyday you are bound to feel hungry.The only matter of concern is that your eating does not get out of hand.Keeping that in control will take you a long way.Another thing which is very important to note is that because you are feeling hungry means that your body is healing after the surgery and you are well on the way to recovery.

Hah, I was hungry on the 5th day after my surgery. Like HUNGRY HUNGRY, not head hunger! Thank God I was able to start soft food on day 5, and well chewed solids on day 10, it was a life saver. I was able to eat much more back than then now. And as time is passing by ,my hunger is moving to the back. Now I barely ever get hungry, and if I do, a few bites of something will satisfy my hunger.

I usually feel hungry once or twice a day, but if I eat something small that is okay and it will fade away.

Some people are still hungry all the time, others are never hungry anymore. I guess we're all different. But I can imagine if you work out that much that your body wants some energy! :-) Nothing to worry about.

Feeling hungry is perfectly normal and especially if you are living a healthy lifestyle that includes intense exercise. I had gastric bypass in Oct of 2013. My highest weight was 368 pounds and i was wearing a size 48 jean and 4x shirt. Today 9 months later I am 195 pounds and my jean size is 30-32. My shirt size is medium. I have dedicated myself to a healthy life style that includes intense workouts including both weight lifting and cardio. Feeling hungry is perfectly normal, the trick is to teach yourself to choose the right food to feed that hunger. Eat smaller portions more frequently every two or three hours and make sure that Protein is your main food source. Limit your sugar intake. A diet with high sugar intake is a diet with high calorie intake. Keep up the good work!!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
