plastic surgery appointments..I am going to do this?

Recommended Posts

So I have two appointments with two different plastic surgeons because I want to know what each will offer and I want to see evidence of their work.

I am not scared really, just surprised that I am willing to go through so much more to try to complete who I think I can become. I need this for two reasons. One my back is hurting with the weight of the skin..Which surprises me since I had so much more weight on it before and there is so much less now and it is starting to cause similar issues. And two I think by removing the skin it will make me more mobile. And it not being in the way, will give me more confidence....

Those are my reasons for now...

But are they good enough to go forward......hmmmmmmm!

Congrats RJ! Keep us posted on what you find out. I keep toying with the idea of plastics but am fortunate that my skin does not impede my mobility.

Wuhoooo! So happy for you!!! I have a consult for a Panni with my bariatric surgeon on Monday bc I've gotten into running(who would've think it) and it's painful and super uncomfortable! This is purely for comfort and the only skin surgery he does and when I heard he did them I was so happy bc he is amazing! Later down the road hopefully after we have another little one I'll have my full body overhaul lol! I just want it to be here already! I'm 10lbs from my surgeon's goal for me and about 20-25 from my goal. How long did it take you to reach goal!? Mine has slowed to a crawl I'm talking maybe 3lbs a month! I wonder if I need to up my calories...anywho enough rambling! I really am so happy for you, it's been a long road for you! Big hugs!

I am considering finally getting plastics for basically the same reasons - I think it upsets my balance also. That swaying back and forth of the extra skin has begun to create some painful situations. I have tore the "wings" on my arms while I was active in a shirt that had open sleeves. I guess the motion of the skin moving back and forth did it. I had big bruises and the skin was weeping and chafing. I didn't notice it until I got into the ocean, however - owwww.

The tummy and leg skin and folds (and others) are creating concerns that as I age, especially if I suddenly found myself unable to take care of my own hygiene that it could create serious medical issues. It is a routine as it is!

Keep up posted. I have talked to doctors already, but I'm going to begin to follow up with the doctors and make a decision of who and when probably in the winter, with the intention of getting it done before the heat of the summer. Houston is not the best place to heal from surgery in the humidity and heat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
