nausea/diarrhea after fill??

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill Tuesday, 1.8cc in a 4cc band. I'm not having any difficulty eating - I'm even able to eat white bread. I do think there is some restriction though, because 1000 calories or less per day is satisfying me just fine. I am getting 50 - 60 grams of protein; and only tried the bread to test it. But since the day after the fill I have been having really bad nausea and some diarrhea after I eat. There isn't any actual pain, and the food goes down without any difficulty, so I'm not sure the nausea is related to the fill - has anyone else experienced this after a fill?

If you are having nausea after you eat it may be a sign that you ate too much. However since you also have diarrhea I think you have a stomach bug. I hope you feel better soon.

This has happened to me once right after a fill, it wasnt nausea or diarrhoea but a horribly painful episode where I needed to go and got the full on cramps, cold sweats, shakes, it went on for hours, i just kept needing to go back to the toilet, and the whole thing would start over. I was sure it was connected to the fill I'd had the day before, but its happened several times since and its definitely my period coming that causes it. I've developed a bit of endometriosis in my old age according to my gynae.

I'd say its *probably* a coincidence and unfortunately you've caught a bug. Although I do find now, if I eat anything to oily or rich I get a very upset tummy these days, I just have no tolerance for it anymore.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
