5 weeks today and only down 19 pounds since surgery....seems slow

Recommended Posts

I lost 11 pounds in the pre op diet and 19 since surgery. So altogether it's been 6 weeks of 400-600 calories. I guess I expected the first month to be bigger....anyone else start slow?

i am down 30 as well, including pre-op (lost about 14 then) and i am 4 wks and 3 days post op. i'm feeling awesome. i feel like i'm in a bit of a stall right now, eating about 700 cal a day, 65 Protein and about 65-70 oz liquids daily.

just keep it up! i've lost more in this little time than i EVER lost on my own before, even after months of trying! i'm having great faith that even if i'm a slow loser, it WILL come off. plus, i'm a true believer that your skin retracts better and other things are easier if your loss is a little slower rather than faster. i'll take what i can get. i'm the turtle in this race but feeling awesome!

I had surgery June 17. Not winning any medals here either. Lost 6 on pre-op and 20 since surgery. Been in a stall where I have not lost an ounce for over a week. Trying not to get discouraged. I am following the plan keeping carbs at a minimum and drinking Water as required, etc. my current weight is 199.5 and holding, and holding, and holding...:-). I will continue with the plan and eventually I will see the scale move again. I certainly hope so. I have a long way to go yet!

I'm only down 28 pounds, only 19 pounds since my surgery June 9. But I'm ok with that. I know I'm doing everything right, I'm exercising and eating healthy. I've always been a slow loser, but I know that the pounds will come off. So, just try not to worry about the scale. It will come off. If you started at a lower weight, you won't lose as fast as somebody who may have a higher bmi, too. Just a little food for thought... I'm excited that every week the scale is moving down ward :) even if it's slow!

Damn maybe I should stay quiet. 65lbs in first month. But then again I was 370 so... I men5ioned that to ly doctor cause last week only put that 10 pound compared to previous weeks. He was surprised. He said you are suppost to stall and if done correctly ur suppost to lose about .5- 1lbs a day so on avg. Its about 23 lbs a month. I continued the 800 cal diet. He was shovked at that too said I didnt need to just have 3 meals n go about ur day. Obviously no junk food.< /p>

I started at 280. I'm 5'8", looking to get to 185lbs. I'm happy the scale is going down, I just can't help compare myself to others....

Don't "only" on yourself! Every pound lost is a win! Are you exercising? That should DEFINITELY help! If you are exercising, try adding a new exercise to your plan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
