Recommended Posts

I don't know anything about UHC but I had a reduction. Let me just say....you are going to love it. Best thing I ever did for myself.

Please tell me more! I need something done, but I don't know what. My breasts aren't that large now, just that long. At 65, I'm not looking for big and perky (might look odd ;( . Would a reduction work? Is it horribly expensive?

I have UHC and they paid for reduction. They were dense and large before and then they were long and hanging. You will need medical reason because insurance does not cover cosmetic. I had proof of degenerative disc disease, marks in shoulder from bra strap, and pain. A plastic surg, should be able to give you a good sense of how well they can build a medical case for you. They take pics and send to the ins co and they will decide if they approve. Sometimes they'll offer a partial payment but they paid 100& for me. Next to the band, it's the best thing I ever did.

Thank you! Did u have to write a letter to appeal it? My plastic surgeon is no help and didn't even want to try with uhc cause he said they are never going to approve it.

I'm not a female. But UHC did cover this surgery for my wife. Kind of the same as was stated before. Neck pain, gouges in the shoulders from her bra straps, back pain, headaches. Our primary care doc recommended the surgery, sent her to a plastic surgeon. Paperwork was submitted, and approved. I cant say I dont miss the twins everynow and then, but her quality of life has improved 100%. And she / we are more than satisfied with the results.

I went to one surgeon and he filed the paper work with my insurance and it was denied. A year later I went to a medical seminar where a Plastic Surgeon was giving a presentation on the various and most popular types of plastic surgery. Afterwards I spoke to him about breast reductions and how my insurance had denied it. He told me to come see him and promised me he could get my insurance company to pay for it. He was true to his word and my insurance company did pay for it. It's all about how it is written up. I had very large breasts, back and neck pain, rashes underneath, indentions in the shoulders. It was medically necessary but it had to be written up just right. They do a lift with the reduction. The reduction and the sleeve have been my two gifts to myself and insurance paid for both of them. Color me happy. :-)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
