Yes it's been a hard and long struggle... Even getting 64 ounces and 60 g of Protein is exhausting ... I didn't think I would be hurting so bad still. My mantra is one day at a time. We can do this!

Yes we can! I have been able to get the Protein in for the most part but not the fluids. I did talk to the nutritionist today about it and she just told me to try my best.

You are only three days out, I hope your pain eases quickly! I am laying here on my fiances recliner with a heating pad across my abdomen, seems to help.

Make sure to stay ahead of the pain meds... If I go over even 30 min I am doubled over...

I have not been doing that, for sure. I started stretching it out to every 5 hours, then every 7 hours, then only once or twice a day with Tylenol in between.

I think I am going to give that up.....maybe I will feel better quicker.

The second night I was in the hospital I asked my nurse for my pain and nausea medicine and it was an hour or two past due. He told me we were going to cycle through it. Could not believe it.

Try and not stretch it out for a day and see how you feel. I really am starting to think that it will help. I am going to do the same!

I had surgery on 7/9 and I have had a horrible burning pain in my ribs above one of my incisions. Luckily I haven't had the pain since Monday. Hopefully it will pass soon for you too!

Today feels more like a burning pain than a ripping pain, so I guess that is a step up!

What is a stricture?

A narrowing or a tightening.

I know its only been a couple of weeks but walking really does help with the pain. I too have RA and I had a lot of limitations but movement is the key to everything. Even if you are just walking up and down the driveway. Movement will help you heal and it helps with the pain. Good luck and hope you heal soon.

I had the same issues. It came from doing more moving than I should have. I am now in my 4th week post-op and I am doing much better. The one thing I have learned is not to push it. This is the first week that I have been able to

Sorry I got cut off. This has been the first week that I can work out where my stomach doesn't feel like I tore something. Be patient and don't rush the healing process. You can do this, we are all here doing the same thing with you! So you are not alone. Try to sleep only on your back, when you sleep on your side the muscle where the incisions were will feel like they are tearing when you get up in the morning. This problem will pass.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
