I am almost 5 months post op and have done very well but have been in a rut for the past two weeks playing with the same two pounds. I am not in a "stall", I am in a "rut". Because of muscle spasms from Fibromyalgia, I have been unable to ride my bike for a couple of weeks and taking Tylenol for them just does not cut it. If I try and over do, then I am incapacitated for several days. I know that if I could get the exercise on, the results would be there. I am depressed and have always said a "rut is just a grave with both ends kicked out!".

I am drinking plenty of Water, it is HOT in the desert and I am getting my Protein, maybe I just have to ride this out......until my body says I can exercise again. I have not been sedentary, quite the contrary, I just cannot do my heavy exercising...................... :(

I feel your pain (literally!), shmily. I hit the same barricades because of my fibromyalgia and arthritis pain. I still go to the gym, but some days I may only be able to do 15 minutes of really light stuff. Hang in there and don't over do it. As a former AZ girl myself, I know how the heat can take the wind right out of your sails, which doesn't help getting the exercise in, that's for sure. Be kind to your body; this too shall pass. :)

I don't know if it's an option for you, but my friends mom has fybromyalgia and goes for Water aerobics. She can't rave enough about how much easier it is on her joints and overall body. Also, my zumba teacher has a class she teaches that involves Water exercise, she says she has tons of clients who suffer from arthritic and they actually look forward to class because it helps them with their joint pain.

That's what I did when I went to PT. It is a 42 mile drive one way and I have to pay to use the pool. It WAS great though.

@@shmily When I saw the national weather yesterday I thought of you... You guys are definitely in the red zone! I think you have your own answer -- that you need to just keep doing what you're doing, doing what you can (with regards to exercise) and take care of yourself. Maybe it's time to rest a little until the body feels better and then when you can start back, your body will be so happy it will shed pounds quickly again... shock therapy! ;)

Wishing you all the best! You've been so successful so far, you can do this!

Hi Gingersnaps, Yes, hot again. but thank God I am about ten degrees cooler than Tucson. We are going to San Diego for a week starting Friday so it will be cooler and I will also have access to a pool. I weighed this morning and the scale finally moved a little. It is true that sometimes we just need to listen to our bodies and let them rest a bit. I see you are doing well..congrats.......thanks for the encouragement

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
