I was sleeved in November and still losing hair, for 3 months. I have very fine, thin hair and I would be lost without my wig. I am afraid to use extensions because I feel they would pull more hair out so a wig was the only choice, except for visors. Now I look bald with a visor on. I have taken Biotin since before surgery. Worthless. I take lots of good Vitamins. Just unlucky I guess. Good luck!

I am at the 4 month post op and have also started losing my hair. I have noticed it mostly when I Shampoo so I have tried to stretch that out using dry shampoo. It is mostly at the part in my hair and temples. I take Biotin and am trying to increase my Protein. I also just ordered some Keranique shampoo, conditioner, hair regrowth treatment and an 8 day intensive scalp infusion treatment. I saw a commercial on tv for it and ordered it off Amazon. I don't know if it will help or not but I am willing to try anything. I have fairly thick hair so I am hoping that the Hair loss will not be too bad. I will let you know if I see a difference after using the above mentioned product.

I have always had very thick hair and have been SHOCKED at how much hair I have lost, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down which worries me even more. I bought some hair extensions (luxy) which have been helpful but if I keep losing at this rate I will not be able to use them and will need a wig, as well. I have been really surprised by how dramatic this had been. I also take my Vitamins religiously and eat 75-80 grams of Protein a day. Hope it will slow down soon and the regrowth will start!!!!!!!

My doctor and nutritionist said the hair will grow back. Hope they are right! I may be in the same boat with you-all. Bright side - maybe this will be the time to get a wig and try being blonde! LOL!

I am 8 days out. I am terrified that I will lose what little hair I have. I am already using a topper wig. Have had long battle with thyroid issues. So the top of my hair is thin and baby fine. Recently went for my 1 wk post-op visit. The nutritionist assured me that more will fall. She said that because of that drastic hormone change that the body will endure, hair will fall. Thankfully I have a very supportive Husband. He already told me to start looking for a wig now, before I wake up one morning and find myself bald.

3 months post op and am shedding big time. RD says there is nothing you can do but wait it out. Rograine has become my best friend....but I don't even think it helps

I thought it would not happen to me LOL. I sit and want to cry looking in the mirror. Even the texture of my thin hair has changed. Pitiful. I eat healthy, I took Biotin and great Vitamins. I have heard but not sure it is true, that if you use Rogaine, you have to use it forever. A very decent wig is the best thing I bought. It cost $150 but I wear it every day. It has been a lifesaver. Make sure you go to a wig store. I bought a couple wigs online and I will never wear them. You must try them on!

I did not start losing hair until month 5, about the time I thought I was one of the lucky ones that was not going to experience hair loss! I am almost at the 8 month point now and the loss is slowing down. My hair stylist says my hair is super healthy from eating right and from all the Vitamins. She sees new Hair growth, so we feel it will be fine. I am fortunate that I have a large quantity of individual hairs, so I have not had to resort to a wig and no one has noticed the loss. I do keep my Protein intake very high 80-100 grams per day, which I think has helped.

I'm definitely dreading this. I have super thick hair and hope that will help to minimize the appearance of loss. I've been taking Biotin for over a month now since was before my sleeve took place last week. Seems like it's just one of those things I'll have to endure. But if it grows back healthy I guess I can deal with it.

I'm 9 1/2 months out from surgery and I'm still losing my hair but it's growing and falling at the same time. So, I don't know if that is the fat leaving and skinny hair moving in..LOL

I have started brushing it 100 times at night and that has helped with my hair shedding.

I was terrified of losing my hair. I thought if I did not get the bypass it wouldn't happen. Yesterday I saw a serious amount of shedding and I tried to deny it. Now that read these post I have to face it. Snaps! Guess I'll just go short and deal with it because I feel so much better with just the 30 lbs I've lost so far.

Had my sleeve done April 21st this year. In the last month I've lost so much hair! I'm doing about 60-75grams of Protein a day and taking biotin! Anyone else having this problem or know of something else I can do to prevent anymore hair loss! The way it's falling out I'll be bald in a month!

I'm one year out and almost to goal. Lost it starting around 5 months to 8 months. A tun would come out during shower. Now at one year it stopped at 9 months and coming back 10 fold! Don't stress it comes back!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
