I am wondering what I should expect for my 1 year bandiversary? Should I be at my goal?

To me, it is perfect. We all want more. I am 4 yrs out from my lap band and had much success losing almost 100 pounds in 1 year! Long story short I ended up with another huge hiatal hernia, that slipped the band majorily. I spent the last year so sick and had so many test. What I learned is 1 to 2 pounds a month is what the docs consider normal. So to me you are doing just fine. I had the surgery 3 weeks ago and I had a 4 hr surgery. I am starting again and my new attitude is we are all different and slower is better!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESS!

You may be there, and you may not. As long as YOU know you are working within the given guidelines , you can't control (or wish away) the excess weight. This is a lifestyle change. Think about it like this, sometimes roads are straight from point "a" to point "b", sometimes there are curves in the road, lower speed limits and detours, still, you can get from point "a" to point"b".

You will get there, so why not enjoy the scenery along the way, stop at a rest stop, check out the scenic overlook and historical markers? :-)

I'm trying not to have any "shoulds" but instead to recognize that I have a whole new lifestyle, a new life now. Please be gentle with yourself and enjoy who and where you are right now -- today. You will get there but don't miss smelling the roses along the way!

Thank you all for your comments. I have really enjoyed each day and each milestone it brings. But sometimes you can't help but wonder what it is suppose to be like a year later. I guess I shall see 5 months. Thanks again!

I am wondering what I should expect for my 1 year bandiversary? Should I be at my goal?

I've been smelling the roses for 18 months now! I am a very slow loser but have lost. My ultimate goal is to lose 60 more pounds.i don't care how long it takes as long as I'm following the rules I'll eventually get there! The good news is that I've kept off the weight I have already lost (that's major for me!)

Don't worry, you will get there and don't give yourself a time limit. If I have myself a time restraint I would have given up all together. Congratulations on your surgery and good luck to you!

I am two months away from mine. I didn't set a real # goal. Instead I made non-scale victory goals. My first goal was running a 5k...not walking, but running. I did it!! 3 actually so far this summer, and even one 4 miler (til I sprained my ankle recently at a party, so I'm sticking to walking only for now). I find that the number goal doesn't matter. My next goal is say goodbye to Lane Bryant forever and be thin enough to shop in only regular stores. I'm almost there (I'm at a 16-16W or XL).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
