Feel like normal!

Recommended Posts

Had my band done on the 17/06 and ended up with cellulitis in one wound and golden staph in the other! As a result I have not yet had a fill as I was taken to surgery a week ago to reopen wounds and wash them out! I'm really frustrated as I feel like I've spent a lot of money that is going to waste because I'm not feeling any restriction. My meals are only slightly smaller than pre op and I'm starving like an hour or two after! Has any one got any helpful advice?

Your infections are only a side track.....

It is absolutely expected to feel back to normal after surgery...that is the one thing your Dr. is looking for.....

First you prepared for the surgery, then the surgery itself where the appliance was placed...then the healing phase after surgery so you can get back to "Normal"...right where you were before the surgery....once you get there. THEN the games begin of band adjustments, self adjustments, lessons to be learned to obtain the new lifestyle....can take months after surgery to get there...

Aside from the side track, you are right where you are supposed to be....If I was your Dr. I would be very pleased that now we can enter the next phase and get things in motion.....

Hang on...now the fun starts.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
