Hello WLS Family,

I wanted to know if anyone has experienced that pain of course of being overweight, like joint, and body pain, and then after surgery any type of join, hip, ankle, leg pain.

I am starting to see skin start to flab and move, but my body most days ache. Especially if I try and work out. I am 3 months post op and usually don't feel like working out, I up and mobile a little more, much more energetic but not as much as I hear everyone else is? Am I missing something, should I get my blood levels checked to see if I am missing something like a Vitamin deficiency? What is your suggestion 3 months post op, 40 lbs off?

Please advise and share your experiences...

I had tremendous joint pain (knees and hips primarily) prior to surgery. Immediately after surgery, my thighs got in on the act. My legs hurt so badly it was difficult to sleep at night.

But once the weight started coming off and I was able to walk on a regular schedule, the pain decreased to the point that the only time my joints bother me is when I overdo it exercise-wise (but it's more likely I'll get muscle aches)

What is your Vitamin schedule like? I take my Multi-Vitamin, B-12, Iron, Calcium, Biotin and a super B complex. I honestly don't know what levels are good, but those are the Vitamins recommended by the NUT and surgeon. I'll be getting my follow-up labwork done first week in August, so I'll know then if it's working. If you think your issues may be due to Vitamin deficiency, it certainly wouldn't hurt to give your doctor a call and get his opinion. I would think you would have less aches as you're putting less stress on your joints.

I could barely walk due to knee pain before my surgery. After my knees are good but I do get a lot of pain in the back hips & tailbone area now. I have gone to the chiropractor and it has helped some. He said that due to losing weight some things shift out of place occasionally because my joints and bones are used to supporting the big me. I blame the tailbone for not having as much cushion as I once did.

Thank you for your support. Yes, I go to a Chiropractor as well, I went today, but I think I am just lazy. I would love to loose 69 lbs or 89. I am 40 down, at 3 months and amazed, but I want the jiggile off now, I want those arms toned and the Michelle Obama arms. Tell me what you eat, and how long you have been at the "Grind"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
