LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted July 23, 2014 I bet he would have been nicer if I was 150 lbs wearing half my clothes. But I'm not. I'm 3-- and I cover everything. And a wear a hijab. He should have known not to touch me. Oh I won't let him see how he nerves me. He's not worth it. Amanda, I get this. No one is worth it. Is there another doctor perhaps that understands? I will what I want 271 Posted July 23, 2014 When I've run into someone so insensitive, I've found it helpful to remember that what they say to me is just an indication of the kind of things they hear in their own head about themselves all the time -- some call it the "inner critic". Can you imagine living with that 24/7? Be glad you don't have to! Im sorry they were so hurtful. Completely uncalled for. ~hiddn So true. And what they are saying to themselves is likely even 1,000 times worse. Doesn't excuse their bad behavior - just helps make sense of it.
I will what I want 271 Posted July 23, 2014 Once, back in one of those windows of "normal weight," I told my pcp that my husband and I were doing IVF treatments to get pregnant. This guy says to me, " have you tried wearing a school girl outfit...that might really get your husband going..." Never went back to him again. In retrospect I should have filed a complaint with the medical board.....

sh1211 38 Posted July 23, 2014 A few years back I went to my doctor and asked for help loosing weight and he said it was my destiny to be overweight and that I would one day have diabetes too. I cried and he decided I was very sad/depressed. He prescribed an antidepressant for me. I was depressed so I filled the prescription, but I left there on my own as far as my weight was concerned. To this day not one doctor has ever helped me with my weight. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for a general physical. I had typical lab work done last week and this doctor (a new one) sent me a letter saying I now have high cholesterol to add to the rest of the list of health concerns. I'm sick and tired of health problems, my weight, and taking medication. I'm ready for VSG!!! 3 VSGAnn2014, #9grammy and dylanmiles23 reacted to this

dawalsh 919 Posted July 23, 2014 Went to see a dr about my knees and his first questions was... omg, you must eat ALOT, how much so you eat?!. I almost broke down into tears right there but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction. Anyone have any problems like this?ooh that makes me do mad! My PCP gives me a hard time and keeps telling me that my lapband is a failure because I have not lost enough weight post op. He's right, I've lost over 60 lbs in 18 months. I can't exercise that much as I do have disabilities. I consider myself grateful for losing this much and keeping it off.Don't let that Dr get you down, you doing something for you and Don 't take any guff from that doctor or change doctors! 1 LindafromFlorida reacted to this
labwalker 1,177 Posted July 23, 2014 If you lost 60 lbs in 18 mos, and KEPT it off, you are a success. No one is perfect... and everyone is not made the same, and we all aren't all-stars for rapid weight loss! Sometimes the tortoise wins the race. Losing weight is not a contest, and we aren't on a TV show... enjoy your success, and keep on the path. 2 LindafromFlorida and Luvin_Life125 reacted to this
Sparklingbeauty53 202 Posted July 24, 2014 To the doctor "What part of that statement is susposed to be kind and caring? I guess you skipped bedside manner class...so sorry you have no personality....have you thought of being a researcher? I hear those jobs don't require a bedside manner and you are so qualified for it." Make sure you report this behavior. He needs sensitivity programing. VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted July 24, 2014 Boy, this thread is a real eye-opener. We've all heard that some doctors struggle with substance abuse -- which is a toughie, since they have rough jobs and big access to mood-altering drugs. I've got to think some of these A-holes are simply high. Who in hell would say to a patient what shellief's doctor said. He was either insane or high to chance saying that. swimbikerun 1,046 Posted July 24, 2014 Agreed. Quite an eye opener. Here is the problem: any doctor can be nasty or whatever. Unless the care is less, the hospitals let it go. Rating sites are the best bet but be very specific. Add your feelings. People identify with that. The other is is he in a group? See who else has a better attitude. I do know that the doctors' attitude to you makes a huge difference in care. That's one of the reasons I had so many problems.
