nearnermal78 9 Posted July 21, 2014 I feel like I'm starving all the time. I had surgery on Monday the 14th. I'm feeling great. But I just feel hungry. I am eating every 3 hours. I eat all kinds of things, Protein Shakes, cream of wheat, refried Beans, creamed Soups. Not sure what I am doing wrong!
SugarFreeMe 293 Posted July 21, 2014 I'm guessing your not really hungry, but either bored or thirsty. What you're experiencing is "head" hunger. The best things to do are get busy, go for a walk and/or drink Water. Because you're so new to the process and eating on a schedule, you really don't even know what your "new" hungry feels like. I'm 4 months out and after really paying attention to my signals I finally just now know what hungry feels like. It's more an empty feeling, I don't get a grumbly feeling or anything like that. If anything at all I more often then not never feel hungry. Try to distract yourself, eating used to be a habit more then a necessity for most of us. You'll figure it out, but whatever you do, don't give into your head. Eat when your supposed to only.
nearnermal78 9 Posted July 21, 2014 I think a big part of it was today we had a party with lots of food and Snacks. My mashed potatoes didn't cut it! Lol. Eventually I will be able to have some of the foods again, but right now, it isn't easy!
jtickle 295 Posted July 21, 2014 I think I am hungry all the time as well. Then I realized it was just my brain that was used to me eating all the time. Now I eat on a schedule.
Lissapmkn1 41 Posted July 21, 2014 I agree with head hunger. I realized the 2 weeks post surgery that I wasn't hungry, but my brain kept telling me I should eat something. It is weird because my stomach and my brain tell me different things. I realized I needed to find things to do or the overeating issue would still be there! You can do it! When I feel like a need something, I go for one sugar free popsicle. I feel like I've had a treat and it helps with hydration! 1 SugarFreeMe reacted to this
This.is.it 0 Posted July 23, 2014 Head hunger is my biggest challenge as well. Just be patient and kind to yourself while you try to change habits that may have taken years to develop.
