Anyone feeling weak when working out while on the liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

Anyone feeling weak when you are excercise or work out at the gym while being on the liquid diet? I feel more and more weak each day. I'm on day 9 of the liquid diet. I make sure I get all 100 oz in plus some daily of Fluid and try to stay on a time schedule for all my supplements. I wonder if I'm trying to do too much. I'm trying to build my muscles up before the surgery. Any Idea's or suggestions to share?

I'm ten months post op, but just did a couple of days of just Protein Shakes. It definitely affected my energy level and workout. Don't be too hard on urself, just do what you can. Good luck and God bless!

Ha! I was lucky enough to be able to walk around normally. Not only was I exhausted!!! But, I was grumpy, frightened, and feeling crazy! Maybe try to lighten your workout? Just moving is good. That's all I was able to do, and not much at that.

You definitely need to walk lots and get some exercise during this phase, but maybe you should lighten the workout just a bit? It sounds like you are doing everything by the book, but maybe just doing a little too much in the workout department. Good luck! :)

I did a lot of lifting weights before surgery but didn't have a pre-op diet. Now that I'm post-surgery (YAY) when my doctor cleared me to start lifting again he and the NUT added in some carbs because you need them for quick energy when lifting.

I think you're doing too much while on the pre-op diet. I know you're trying to increase strength now but the pre-op diet is tough on the body and you probably won't have enough energy to lift a lot of weights. Give yourself a break! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
