Almost 9 months post surgery

Recommended Posts

I am ten days away from being 9 months out from surgery. My surgery was October 30, 2013. I have lost well over a hundred pounds since the start of the journey. At my highest weight I was 309 pounds. This was the best thing that I have ever done for myself and my family. My health has improved so much. Blood pressure and A1C are back to normal. I have so much more energy than I have had any many years. I am at my lowest weight in more than 20 years. I feel so blessed to have this chance to change things for myself and family. Here are a few pictures of me during this journey. First picture May 2012, Second picture March 2014, and third picture July 16,post-184568-0-14800400-1405834427_thumb.jpg 2014 post-184568-0-71738100-1405834290_thumb.jpg post-184568-0-19582200-1405834469_thumb.jpg post-184568-0-43436800-1405834519_thumb.jpg

Thank you so much everyone. I have not really taken pictures of myself. I was encourage by a friend at work to do so. I was still seeing myself as that fat person. She wanted me to see what everyone else sees. I never realized how big I had gotten.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
