If my insurance weren't paying a portion, my cost would be about 9,900. Instead I will only be paying 3500. Some have reported paying 12-15000. Here is a quick snapshot I found on google where individuals reported what they paid. http://www.realself.com/lap-band/cost

Ranges between $4500 and $8000 in Mexico. I went with Dr. Martinez and Dr. Ortiz at Obesity Control Center, which is a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. I paid $7000 for airfare, surgery, hospital stay, two months of postop meds and 4 nights at the Marriott for me and my sister.

I paid about $15,000 in louisiana. $13,600 for the actual procedure, the rest was paid while doing pre op test like sleep studies and EKGs and stuff.....u know. Some was spent on the Rx, over the counter meds, and vitimins. This stuff was expensive to me. Even the protien shakes for pre op hit my pocket. Just be prepared to have about at least $500 on top of what the procedure itself costs.

I paid $12,400 all-inclusive (including the first year of follow-ups and fills), and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Great medical care before, during, and after, and worth every penny!

Mine was about $16000. However most hospitals have a charity care or assistance program that will cover some of the cost for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
