Hello,

I had my sleeve surgery on 06/11/2014; for the past 2 weeks I have had acne breakouts. Normally I have good skin however; this is way out of the norm. I was my face everyday, I am just wondering if this is a normal reaction from surgery.

As you loss your weight. All the toxins that were stored in your body will start to come out. I know it is not a pretty thing but it is cleaning your system as you lose weight. Layer after layer will detoxify as you lose the weight....

Just keep up the good work and in the end......You will be as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside......Our bodies take care of us even when we don't even have an idea of what is happening to us......All good! :)

Yep, I agree with RJ. You are detoxifying. Now that what is eaten has changed, all the additives, nitrates and preservatives are being eliminated. This is a good sign and short lived. Soon your skin will be clear and you will feel much better.

Another thing I've noticed after my 05/30/14 sleeve is that my hormones are on crazy high estrogen mode; it's caused me breakouts and affected my cycle so that may be contributing as well. I have been told that it passes with time and to just do the best you can while you're body is taking you for a ride through all the big big changes.

Congrats on your progress so far!

Yup. Detoxing is yukky. Acne, hormones and toxins stored in your fat cells leaving your body at a high rate of speed, probably some dehydration due to the fact you can't hold much right now. It gets better! I get compliments on my skin now which is kind of a new thing.

It has to do with your hormones being out of wack from weight loss. Just think if all those bad hidden in fat cell nasty toxicants were released rapidly you’d probably be dead. Fortunately, one's liver does a magnificent job at removing toxins from your body.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
