Jtickle.....how long was the process for u from first seminar to approval for surgery

I started on March 3rd of this year and was submitted to insurance in mid April, found out I was approved on April 29. They actually submitted my paperwork a little late because the insurance coordinator was gone for a week.

I have UHC thru my husbands company, and am hoping for a quick approval. I know that it is covered on his insurance and I meet the criteria. they do require a 6 month doctor supervised weight program, but I have been seeing a doctor in KY every other month since last April, so I am hopeful doing that and the 3 months with Dr. Custer that they will approve it and not make me do an additional 3 months. I really want the surgery before the end of this year, so fingers crossed please.

Ok, not trying to be a dummy here, but everyone has signed off on approving me, the psych. doctor, the insurance case manager, the bariatric case manager, they all talk like I'm approved, I know everything has been submitted to the insurance company, but all professionals I talk with at the bariatric center act like its a go, just a matter of setting a surgery date, what do they know that I don't know, no one has contacted me telling me everything is approved, signed off on. Please anyone with any input, advice, etc, I don't know what to expect, if I should get excited or what, thanks. I have United Healthcare Plus

I have United Medicare Complete. I have done all my pre-op checks and now they are submitting my case to insurance. I don't know how long that will take. I'm still in the wait and see game.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
