jennifer1.white 2 Posted July 18, 2014 Honestly I really didn't have any symptoms. I had went to my pcp for lab work cause I was just tired. Upon getting my labs back my liver function was bad. jennifer1.white 2 Posted July 18, 2014 I have had no history of them. They only thing I have a history of was hypertension. I was private pay here in the states cause my insurance would not cover my surgery luckily they will cover the gallstones. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kindle 8,667 Posted July 18, 2014 Gallstones are very common with rapid weight loss. I think the stat is 30% of WLS patients develop gallstones. I also have a family history, so I gave no doubt I'll need mine removed. But I'm not sure how long they take to form - 4 weeks seems pretty fast. You may have had the stone before but just didn't know it. Did you have bloodwork preop and was it normal? Even though bloodwork is not a good diagnostic tool for gall bladder issues....I had an extremely painful gall bladder attack a couple weeks ago and my bloodwork was perfect. But if the stones are causing any sort of bile duct blockage, your liver enzymes will go up temporarily. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I will what I want 271 Posted July 18, 2014 Are there preventative measures one can take to lower the risk of gallbladder problems. Shellief...some doctors put their patients on meds like ursodial postop to help prevent stones. But my PCP feels they don't really help. I read a post on here about someone who was on meds and still got stones. I've also read that some surgeons will take your gallbladder out when they sleeve you. puchy123 56 Posted July 19, 2014 I was sleeved in June last year, and I started experiencing symptoms almost right away, I didn't know what it was and waited almost a year until I for an attack and had to go to the ER ended up having emergency surgery. I'm doing better since my surgery I may, no more pain or heartburn. Keep an eye on it and listen to your body, don't do what I did. Good luck Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
