August 6th lap band to gastric bypass surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello! New to this forum! I just had a conversion from a Lap-Band to RNY on October 16th. I was released yesterday and had my first night at home. Couple of questions from this newbie, has anyone experienced severe, loud gurgling in their bowels/stomach. Sometime it leads to passing gas, other times I get more than gas with the rumblings. Im wondering if it's a lactose intolerant. I need some feedback. The stomach noises are scaring my children :)

Is there anyone who can give me any feedback with this? It would be great to have support from anyone who is going or has gone through this! Look forward too responses~

Hello! I went band to bypass on 8/11/2014, and it was the best decision of my life. I am 5 months post op and am down 70 lbs! Today I weigh 228 lbs! I am off high blood pressure meds and acid reflux meds. I cannot believe that the 200 lb mark is within reach.

I look forward to reading everyone's stories! God Bless!

Congratulations ForeverFat. I'm with you on the surgery date. I bet I beat you to the 100 pounds lost though. Best of luck with your weight loss journey.

Lol the noises are LOUD and the gas is bad. I blamed it on the poor kitty's until one day I felt so guilty I told my hubby it was me, lol.

22 months later still have the gas. My hubyy calls it gernobile as in nuclear bomb, lol.

At least he still loves me, lol, gas and all.

Keep up the great work.

Kim

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
