Hi mamaofmatthew! I just finished scheduling my surgery for July 31! My pre-op tests will be done on Monday the 21st. My doctor is only asking me to be on a liquid diet for three days ... two weeks seems daunting but I'm sure you'll be able to get it done!

What Protein are you guys using to stay full? I am using Premier Protein but I'm sure I'll be sick of it soon! I'd rather have a juice protein than a milk type.

Hi, I'm July 31st also at Baylor Plano in Texas. I started the weight loss diet about two months ago with the Optifast shakes and Protein bars. I ate nothing but Optifast six meals a day (a little bit under 1000 calories per day) and averaged slightly over 1 lb a day weight loss. I stopped after two weeks and went to the two shakes a day one sensible meal plan. I'm down 40 lbs now and I'll stay on this diet until the day before surgery. I've got three different flavors of Isopure in the refrigerator and some beef and chicken broth in the pantry. Will pick up some sugar free Jello later. I think I'm basically ready.

Good luck to eveyone. I'll be posting more as the day gets closer. Only 13 days left.

Dallas

Hello,

Sorry you have to have two weeks worth of liquids. A bit much...but, we all are following our own doctors orders. My surgery is on July 30th!! I have to drink a Protein Drink in the morning and for lunch or dinner I can have a Lean Cuisine meal. Water/water/water!!! Pre-op is on the 21st. On next week I will be on the "blending diet". Liquids/smoothies.

Best of luck to ya! You can do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
