TheNewMe140 15 Posted July 17, 2014 I'm 6 days away from having surgery, and I'm finally starting to get slapped with the reality of it. While I'm super excited to find a new me and new confidence and health, I'm starting to get scared/worried of the unknown. The thing I realized last night was that I don't know how to be skinny. Last time I was at a healthy weight was in high school....I graduated 15 years ago. I'm so used to being overweight, I don't know how else to be...Does that make any sense? I'm used to covering myself, slouching, hiding behind big hoodies and scarves, and barely going out in the summer months. What have some of you encountered in this area and how have you overcome it?? Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted July 17, 2014 I think everyone gets nerves -- if you didn't it would be because you're not taking it seriously. And, it's the fear of the unknown making it worse -- not knowing how you'll feel or look -- if you'll be very different. But, again, I think it's all normal. I think if you focus on why you're doing this, what your goals are and how you want to feel, it will help calm some nerves. Best wishes -- you can do this! 1 TheNewMe140 reacted to this

onlybroomegirl 250 Posted July 18, 2014 One of the best decisions I ever made! Just be prepared that sometimes it's hard, but oh so worth it! It is also hard when everyone is so focused on your weight! Let's face it, most of us have avoided discussions about weight most of our lives. Now everyone wants to discuss it with me. But truly it's wonderful!!
