I have surgery tomorrow and feeling down, i am on liquid diet today and had 10 laxatives. I cant stop thinking about food and i am having second thoughts about doing it or not. Any advice for me ? Have you experienced this right before surgery ?

Just an observation, But 10 laxatives seems a bit excessive..

Just relax and try to think about all the positives that will come from surgery, think about next summer and how much happier you'll be with yourself for making this decision. My surgery isn't until September, But I definitely have day's where I second guess my decision.

Hang in there, you will be fine.

I didn't have the second thought pre-op but I did have thoughts like what did I do to myself a few days post-op! I even told my shrink about my thoughts about I have made a bad decision, he just said, I was on the anesthesia and it'd pass, It will change my life in the better way.

But after only 6 days post-op, I felt A LOT better, The result started to show quite quickly. Now I'm 10 days post-op and I am certain now that I've made the right decision.

Bon courage! I wish you a succesful surgery.

It is a different aproach, it s not that bad with the laxatives, it is not painfull at all . This is to get rid of the pre op liquid diet and all the stress . Thanks for the nice words ! I will read them again and again.....

It might help to actually write down WHY you're doing this. Examples: I want to live longer, I want to shop in the "regular" section at clothing stores, etc. Write down as many reasons as you can - I'll bet it's a bunch! Your reasons should outweigh (no pun intended) your fears.

Alot of things go through your mind before surgery. That's only normal. Just take deep breaths and think of all the positive that will come from this. After surgery, you won't think about food for a while. Before you know it, so much time has passed and you are eating just about everything you could have before surgery, only in small amounts. I am ten weeks out and still have not had any sweets. I haven't even wanted any. You are so busy making sure you get in your Protein and liquids, that before you know it the day is over and you are losing weight. I am totally enjoying this journey. Once the weight starts coming off, you will be too. Best of luck to you and enjoy the ride!

I think it is only normal to have some anxiety about any major decision, especially a decision that can not be reversed. I went through the same thing a few weeks ago, but I found comfort in that I have 3 co workers that have had the sleeve and experience sucess also 3 co workers that had a bypass with sucess. None of them have regrets and all would recommend their procedures and are happy for me. The first few weeks are the toughest after few months they could pretty much eat what they want only much smaller portions than before.

Yay! Congrats!!

I actually had the same pain on the front of my head the first few day after eating for a couple of times but it's gone it a few second. Not sure If it's relevant though, Now I don't have it anymore. I guess my body just acknowledge the starving period and eventually accepted it.

You will feel better everyday, Cheers!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
