I can't find the answer anywhere. If we are supposed to wait to eat at least 30 minutes after drinking Water and how are we supposed to eat Soup?

I literally strained all the chicken and vegetables out of the broth, I ate the broth, then I waited 35 minutes before eating the veggies and chicken.< /p>

Seriously?

Please help.

I'm not allowed Soup on my plan (ever) because it equals eating and drinking at the same time.

That said, I have had soup - but just once, and it was over a year after surgery. I don't plan to make it a regular thing.

Ok, the ONLY reason we can't eat and drink at the same time is because the food will leave our sleeves quicker, so we won't feel as full for as long, so we MIGHT eat more than we should. That's it. Soup will not harm our sleeves. So yes, it's a good idea to not eat and drink at the same time if you can't control your urge to eat when your sleeve is empty. But if you want soup, eat soup! Just be aware you might get hungry again sooner than if you eat a solid meal. If so, have a high Protein snack and move on.

I eat soup all the time. In fact, I just finished a cup of French onion soup with melted Gouda cheese. MmmmMmmmmGood! And then I had two cubes of pineapple for dessert. Its 7pm and I will be having a bedtime snack of Greek Yogurt flavored with vanilla Protein powder in a few hours.

It baffles me how hardly anyone does the same program. .Wats allowed and not...I'm on 9th day out an still on liquids an Soup with nothing in it..but added Protein. I've bought the simple truth brand of butternut squash bisque an Tomato bisque I get at Kroger an I only can get 2 oz at a time down..an of course I have beef n chicken broth..but I get that protein in it! An in Water all day...now by the wknd I'm going to try a lil cream of wheat..but I'm only getting maybe 30 Or so of carbs...an practically probably less then 10 gr of sugar the whole day..my internists said yesterday the tummy will be raw for about 4 to 6 months...so he told me to just baby it an stick to my program. ..best wishes..follow get required water an protein it's goin to wrk...:)

Soup is not allowed at all (after the initial healing period) under many plans unless strained.

Well, this is certainly confusing. But I think (until I can speak with my surgeon) that my best bet is what I did. Treat the broth like Water and then wait at least 30 minutes to eat the Protein and veggies. This is just fine at home, because I can reheat 1/2 hour later, but in a restaurant it would be a little weird to eat it this way. Then again, I doubt strongly that I would choose Soup in a restaurant anymore. Anyway, I live in a HOT HOT HOT climate and I can live without soup, it's just that I made and froze so much of it before surgery that I want to finish it up, slowly but surely.

I ended up speaking with my surgeon who told me to just enjoy Soup as a regular meal, no need to eat it in a certain order, but to just be aware that I might feel hungrier sooner. So the prize goes to Kindle for her response being most in line with that of my surgeon. Thanks!

I've eaten Soup just fine..a few times.. no problems..I was never told not to eat soup..some people say they aren't allowed to eat any carbs at all...meanwhile when I had my visit with my nutrition specialist and nurse...they asked me what I ate for lunch..and then told me I can eat some crackers with it..it's fine. We have to remember that our eating can change over time..and just because something was "forbidden" before..doesn't mean in 6 or 12 months it still is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
