I am 2.5 weeks post-op. Went back to work on Monday. Monday went fine, yesterday was ok but I had a lot of trouble staying on top of keeping hydrated and I was really worn out by late afternoon. Today was even worse- crisis after crisis which needed my attention. By early afternoon I had a bad headache and felt really terrible and a co - worker took one look at me and told me to go home, so I did. Feeling a little better but still not great. For those of you with very fast-paced, high stress jobs, how did you cope with it when you were first back at work?

Went back this Monday as well. Thankfully I worked from home this week as I think if I were in the office id have jumped out the window.

The first day I blocked my entire calendar and all I was trying to do was read the couple hundred emails that had piled up and reaching out to those covering for me to ensure things had been addressed. And so that is where the stress began.

Clearly no one read the out of office, listened to the voice mail ooo and so I spend the majority of Monday and Tuesday trying to resolve all the emails that now have gone weeks without a response.

I fell asleep yesterday at 5 pm and again today. Slept for an hour each time. I was just brain dead.

Because I work in a fast paced environment I took a month off I couldn't imagine going back to work this week... I need to get in a routine first...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
