I was banded on 4/16 and I am feeling pretty much back to normal now. Still have some soreness in the port area, but doing good. Every day will be a big improvement, just don't try to over-do it. I go to the doctor tomorrow for my first post-op appt, hoping the scale shows what my clothes does.

WOWEEEE! Good for you.

My doc puts his patients on 2 week liquids then two week thickened liquids with soft food (mashed potatoes, pudding ETC) and then on week five we can introduce normal foods with caution eventually building up to a normal diet.

Do you feel hungry ever?

My doctor had me on Optifast for 2 weeks pre-op, but we could eat at least one meal each day with that. After surgery, the first day was Clear Liquids, the second was full liquids, and then adding a little each day. I am on day 12 now and I am up to well cooked veggies, soft eggs, canned fruit etc. At 3 weeks we start chicken and meats slowly. I am very happy with the diet and totally understand the reasoning for it. I tried to eat oatmeal a day before it was on the schedule and it did not go down too easy. I lost about 10 lbs pre-op on optifast.

I am hardly ever hungry, and if I am it is in the morning when I get up. I was a total food addict. Living in South Louisiana, we live to eat! Every gathering is around what food is served and so far I have been able to attend anything and eat what is allowable and be totally satisfied. It is totally amazing to me because I was not done one meal that I was trying to think about what I was going to eat next. That is all gone..........the bans is truely a miracle!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
