Postop visit anxiety

Recommended Posts

Ok. I am still months out from my surgery. I should be approved in December. My last class will be December 3rd. And shortly after that will be surgery. Here is where the anxiety comes in. My husband, children and I will be moving to TN within the year. We are currently in TX. So how will that work as far as postoperative appointments are concerned? Will I have to find a new doc? Come back to TX for appointments? Etc. Advice needed

because bariatric surgery is done all over the U.S. I would imagine your surgeon here in TX would refer you to someone in the area you are moving to. I wish you all the success with your pending surgery. You won't regret it.

My family is in Houston but I live M-F 4 hours away in SA. (Laid off in Houston.) I am having my surgery in SA and recovering alone as my insurance will pay more for the hospital here. My physician said I could recover at home and he could refer me to a physician there. But I decided I will be more comfortable staying near him at least for the first month in case of complications. But you can do your post-op anywhere as long as your physician approves. People who go to Mexico come back right away then follow up with local docs. Good luck with your surgery and your move! I love Tennessee!

I completely forgot about the Mexico sleevers! This makes me feel better. Thank you!

My brother inlaw and his wife live in Collierville. It really depends on where my husband gets a job. But we're looking from there over to Jackson.

We are near Chattanooga. We used to live in Memphis. I will ask around for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
