Hi all I had my sleeve done on 2/12/14 and as of today (7/16/14) I'm down 82 LBS, what a life changing thing to do FOR yourself ! I do sometimes get sad that I can't eat as much as I want to ( my eyes are bigger then my stomach) but this is the way it should be,I went from a size 42 jeans to 32 and a s/m shirt now love to shop for new jeans and tee shirts I started out at 271LBS, and now I'm at 189LBS,and I'm 5'6" tall, when at work For lunch I will have a pice of baked chicken that I get from the already prepared self serve section in one of the supper markets I'm a h.v.a.c / plumber so I'm always on the go and it works out good for me plus the money I save is unreal (lol) I do jog NOW I never did before but I'm up to like 3 miles like 3-4 times a week I do this fitness trail in one of the parks by where I live "holmdel park" this trail had 32 work out stations along the way, to work out your whole body , and it makes me feel great! Ok thanks for the platform to tell my wonderful time I'm having with my weight loss i would answer any questions to the best of my ability if you wanted to chat ? Thanks Johnny

That's 75 pounds since the pre op diet.

Here's what I do. Aim for 65 grams Protein every day, which I hit 95% of the time.

Drink at least 62 ounces fluids a day.

Eat Protein first

Eat low fat, no white sugar, low carb food.

I have good fat like olive oil and nuts.

I log everything I eat in My Fitness Pal every single day. I have 1000 calories as my limit but it's usually around 700.

Hope that helps.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
