I had my surgery July 10 and not one day has been a good day for me even after taking all my Protein and Water. I feel lazy, sore, and hungry all the time. When I try to watch tv I see blurry. If I walk to much I get a headache. At night I get bad acid reflux. I have pills that I take for that but it doesn't seem to work as great. So now I bought tums. As far as eating all I have is broth. I'm starting to get stress that I will ALWAYS feel this way. I see different post from ppl out of surgery the same day and they are doing so great. I just keep praying I'll have a normal day where I just feel good :( the worse part is I wish at times I never got the procedure. Also I take B12 and a multi Vitamin

So sorry you are feeling so bad. Know that you are not alone. I was sleeved on the 8th and am struggling to get 8 oz. of Water in a day, everything sweet makes me sick, my eyes are blurry, have been spending days and nights in the recliner, fighting nausea and dehydration. I also have reflux and for the most part can't sleep. I am forcing myself everyday now to drink at least an ounce of Water when I get up. After my shower I have another ounce and go for a short walk. I am really trying to get my Protein, but all the high Protein stuff make me sick. I know this is going to get better for both of us. It is really hard when you read about most of the people not having any problems and there you sit in pain. I cry each night wishing I could just get a good nights sleep. Keep on chugging along and before you know it we will both be happy again.

I felt pretty crappy the first few weeks - so I think what you describe is pretty normal. Please take a proper PPI even if you don't think it is helping. I genuinely believe that getting the tummy reflux/acid under control in the early months is key to success because acid feels like hunger! I only needed to take it for a few months (luckily!) but it made all the difference.

Also, another reason to feel el crappo is low grade dehydrations. If you still feel really bad, consider asking your surgeon for IV fluids. I never needed it, but mine told me to not be shy about asking if I felt bad. Dehydration makes you feel like you are gonna die, it's a horrible feeling. You can be dehydrated even if you are drinking, but just not enough. If your urine is not pretty light colored, I would immediately suspect that issue. Hang in there!

Not sure if you can stomach this but sugar free gatoraide/poweraid helped me in the beginning. It was tough back then but no regrets! You will feel better...I promise!! Take care!!

I agree with Cowgirl Jane. The most important thing right after surgery is fluids. Drink on a schedule to help get them in. I felt really el crappo after surgery. I developed lactose intolerance and for the first week the only Protein drink I tolerated well was powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken flavor mixed with Water.

Also, I slept propped with a lot of pillows the first week. Kinda made my bed like a recliner.

Everyone heals differently. I was still tired until about 4 months. Everyone else was like "I feel great after the first few days" and I was so discouraged that I wasn't, but in the long run, I do feel great and I'm celebrating more than two years at goal weight.

Give yourself time, concentrate on getting in those fluids and resting up so you heal better and faster.

Agreeing with all the others, focusing on hydration will help you. Walk when you can and rest or nap when you need to. Make sure you take your pain meds since you say you are feeling sore. Don't try to be a hero there - if you need them, take them. Not taking them will not help you get better faster!

Since your PPI doesn't seem to be working, I would strongly encourage you to get in touch with your surgeon, explain the situation, and ask if there is a different/stronger PPI you can get a prescription for.

Good luck!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
